The Ton Spring 2018 Release – Day 1

Hello!! I hope you had a wonderful Easter!!!

Welcome to Day 1 of The Ton’s Spring 2018 Release!! There are 14 new stamps (lots of florals…yay!!!) & coordinating dies plus 5 stand-alone dies. The design team will be showcasing the new release today and tomorrow, so be sure to hop along for lots of eye candy!! You should have arrived here from the oh-so-talented Mayline’s blog. There is a complete list at the bottom of this post. Make sure to stop by on Wednesday for a mega blog hop filled with inspiration, in which several special guests join in on the fun!!! All new products will be available for purchase on April 3 and all release orders will begin to ship on April 9.

So many incredible florals in this release…lots of dahlias and a few peonies. My first card features the Large Dahlia 1.

I began by stamping the images from Large Dahlia 1 onto white cardstock with Vanilla Frosted Cupcake Ink. This pale yellow ink is perfect for no-line coloring. No-line coloring seems to be my coloring method of choice lately. I love combining different colors of Copic markers and then adding details with colored pencils, so that’s exactly what I did here. I fussy cut the images…there are Coordinating Dies available, but I didn’t have them at the time. I watercolored a background panel with soft blue colors. Since orange and blue are complimentary colors, I figured the blue would make the orange flower really pop!! I chose a light blue and orange cardstock to frame my watercolor panel. I figured out placement of my flower in the lower left corner and trimmed the portion that hung off the edge. The sentiment, from Peony Notes, was stamped with Coralline Ink (a perfect match to the flowers). A mix of Coralline Ink and water was splattered across the watercolored panel. The flowers were adhered to the panel with foam adhesive. The portion of the flower and leaves which were trimmed away earlier, were placed in the upper right corner. This gives the illusion that you colored two flowers, when you actually only colored one. Lastly, a combination of sequins from Misty Mint, Blue Ice, and Mint Sugar Couture Mixes add a bit of shine to the card.

Make sure you visit my fellow team members, to see what they have created. Be sure to leave them some love along the way, as there are prizes to be had!!
