Newton’s Nook Guest Designer – Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Week

Happy Wednesday and first day of December, friends!! I’m super excited and honored to be a featured guest designer for the Newton’s Nook Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Week!!

I have two cards to share with you today using goodies from the Newton’s Nook latest release!! The first one features the adorable snow couple from the Snow Much Cheer Stamp Set!! There are three other snowmen in the set, but I fell for this sweet couple!

I began by stamping the snow couple onto white cardstock with Copic-friendly black ink. After coloring them with Copic markers, I fussy cut them out. I added some highlights with a white gel pen and some shine to the eyes with a black glaze pen. I also used some red Stickles to add some bling to the berries on the hat and wreath. It’s not Christmas without a little glitter, am I right?

For the background behind the snow couple, I masked off the ground and ink-blended a combination of Mermaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxides onto the sky. Once it was completely dry, I white heat embossed the snowflakes, also from the Snow Much Cheer Set, onto the background. I removed the masking, added some color to the snow bank with Copic markers, then stamped the sentiment with black ink. The panel was trimmed and a red scalloped die-cut frame was adhered over it.

A panel of red cardstock was adhered to an A2 white, top-folding card base. The plaid paper from the Meowy Christmas Paper Pad was trimmed slightly smaller and adhered to the red panel. The snowy scene was popped up onto the plaid background with foam tape. The snow couple was also popped up with foam adhesive for even more dimension.

My second card features the Holiday Home Stamp Set. I fell in love with this set!! The little scene that you can create is just magical!!

I began this card much like my first one, by stamping the images onto white cardstock with Copic-friendly black ink. I colored them with Copics, added highlights with a white gel pen, then fussy cut them out.

For the background, I blended the top of an A2 size panel of white cardstock with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink. The bottom of the panel was colored with a couple of shades of blue Copic markers. The sentiment, also from the Holiday Home Stamp Set was stamped onto the panel with black ink, and colored in with a red Copic marker.

The trees were adhered along the horizon line with liquid adhesive. The house and kids pulling the sled were popped up with foam adhesive. I added some Stickles and clear glitter to the snow on the house and the trees and this one was done!!

I had so much fun creating with these stamp sets!! A big thanks to Jen for having me as a guest designer!!

Be sure to check out the Newton’s Nook Blog for more inspiration during the Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Week!! There will also be a huge blog hop on Friday, so stay tuned for that!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
