Honey Bee Stamps Bee Bold Blog Hop – Day 2

Hello Honey Bee friends!!! Welcome to day 2 of the Honey Bee Stamps Bee Bold Blog Hop!!! What do you think of the new release? Pretty awesome, huh? All of the new products are available to purchase now!! What’s on your wish list? I’d love to know!

Anyway, let’s get to the hop!! You should have arrived here from the marvelous Emily Midgett’s blog. If you get lost along the way, there is a complete list on the Honey Bee Blog here, or there is a list at the end of this post.

I have two cards to share with you today!!

How fun is the Bill the Bear stamp set? When I first saw it, the fishing stamps really jumped out at me. My dad’s birthday is in October & he loves to fish, so I thought I’d get his birthday card finished a little early!

My idea was to use the negative area of the die-cut letters that spelled “DAD” to create a shaker card that looked like an underwater scene. I began by laying out all the fishing stamps from Bill the Bear and the dies to spell “DAD” from the Bee Bold Alphabet Honey Cuts, to get my placement. After I had everything where I wanted it, I cut “”DAD” from the lower right corner of a white cardstock panel, making sure I saved the center cuts of the letters. All of the fishing images were stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink onto the card panel and colored with Copic markers. I also stamped, colored & fussy cut several fish. Clear Wink of Stella added some sparkle to the fish & dragonflies, then Nuvo Crystal Glaze added shine to all of the fish. I chose a teal background panel for the card & ink blended some Broken China Distress Oxide Ink where it would show through the die-cut area on the front panel. One of the patterns from the Bitty Patterns stamp set was stamped with Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Ink to create some “waves”. I splattered the ink blended area with water and blotted it with a paper towel. Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops were added to create some “bubbles”. After the fish & “bubbles” were dry, the fish were adhered to the background so they showed through the die-cut area on the front of the card. Seas the Day Confetti Mix and Clear Bubbles Sequin Mix were the perfect combination for my shaker element. Foam adhesive was added to the card front, making sure to not leave any gaps around the die-cut area. Finally, the centers of the die-cut letters were adhered to the acetate, completing the “DAD” shaker window.

Here is my second card…

I love the sentiment from the Truly Great Friends stamp set!! I began by cutting the largest of the Stacking Hearts Honey Cuts from some rainbow pattern paper & heavyweight white cardstock. I adhered the two together to make the heart sturdier. The sentiment from Truly Great Friends was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder onto another sheet of rainbow pattern paper. The Truly Great Friend Honey Cuts were used to cut the rectangle around the sentiment & the scalloped frame from black cardstock. I trimmed a piece of heavyweight white cardstock, that once scored & folded, would be slightly smaller than the sentiment rectangle & form a small card. The scalloped frame & sentiment rectangle was adhered to the front of the small card, then adhered to the center of the heart. I wanted to add a little bling, so I cut a tiny heart with a die from the Bee Organized Honey Cuts from pink glitter paper and adhered it with foam adhesive over the stamped heart in the sentiment.
