Cardinal Christmas Card – Scrappy Tails Crafts

Hello, friends and happy Monday!! I hope you had a great weekend!!

I have a Christmas card to share with you today for Scrappy Tails Crafts!! There are several meanings behind the sighting of a cardinal. One of the most common beliefs is that this vibrant red bird is an uplifting, happy sign that those we have lost will live forever, so long as we keep their memory alive in our hearts. The holidays are usually one of the most difficult times after losing a loved one, so this Christmas card would be perfect for someone who has recently experienced this type of loss.

I began by die-cutting the Layering Cardinals Die Set from red, black, orange, brown and white cardstock. I added a bit of shading to the die-cuts with Copic markers and adhered all of the pieces together with liquid glue. I added some Grit Paste to the die-cuts with a stiff brush and sprinkled on some Rock Candy Glitter while it was still wet, then set them aside to dry.

For the background, I used blue watercolor markers on a panel of watercolor paper, then blended them together with water. Once dry, I splattered it with diluted white gouache. Next, I arranged and adhered all of the die-cuts to the panel, trimming away the excess from the edges. The panel was adhered to a white A2 card base.

The sentiment, from the Russian Winter Village Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto black cardstock, then fussy cut. It was popped up with foam adhesive. I added some black to the eyes with a black glaze pen and I was finished.

Be sure to check out the Black Friday sale happening over at Scrappy Tails Crafts!! It’s the last day to grab some great deasl!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Have a wonderful Monday and I’ll see you soon!!
